His handling and acceleration are subpar, but when he gets going, Donkey Kong is a juggernaut of a racer! If he hits you, it’s going to hurt! 7. Donkey Kongĭonkey Kong is back for another race, and got a manicure and pedicure for the occasion (smooth like a Baby Mario’s bottom)! DK is fast, and along with Roy and Waluigi, he leaps from S Tier into SS Tier rank when racing in 200cc. He is far from perfectly balanced however, and could only pimp-slap his way to number nine on this list. Considered to be a heavy weight, and at the bottom of the S-rank tier in Mario Kart 8, Roy is decently fast, with a better acceleration than some of the heavier characters on this list. Roy Koopa rocks woman’s sunglasses like a pimp, and he cruises the fastest when compared to his motley group of on-again, off-again children of Bowser. So as long as you can get past his cold, metal disposition, you have the tenth best Mario Kart 8 character (just don’t look into his eyes for too long). Although this has to be one of the least inspired ideas for a character totally separate from the real Mario, he is faster than his own flesh and blood. Mario with a metallic cap on his head, Metal Mario was a powerup first introduced in Super Mario 64. Read all the way through and you might be surprised with number one! 10. This however does not give the characters on the list away. As they are the slowest in acceleration, but the fastest in overall speed. If your favorite character is not on this list, then no Luigi death stares! All characters can be excellent depending on the player.īefore seeing the number ten spot on this list, take note that the heavier characters are the best in the game. This list is meant to eradicate those concerns, by mentioning the technicalities of each character, and how it makes them better than the rest. A setup like that was decent in MK8U but not in Deluxe.Want to know if your favorite Mario Kart 8 character is one of the best? You may be unaware of the online tier lists, or may not actually trust them. If you use a setup like that you ironically enough have to rely more on item luck than on your own skill. That means it takes ages to even get to a yellow mini turbo and if you finally get it, the turbo will be basically as strong as a regular mini turbo from the other setup. You also weigh more which is nice but instead you lose almost three bars of acceleration which is extremely important in Deluxe with double items, you lose one bar in handling so good luck in 200cc and you also sacrifice your entire mini turbo stat.
You can see that the speed combo is faster on the ground, but not really that much faster in the other three areas. Here's the comparison between the suggested build and the "most balanced" build (aka the meta). So you are a tiny bit faster on a straight road but instead lose a ton of time by getting hit and you also don't get the good mini turbos nearly as often.
I'm partial to Leaf/Button Tires for my Wiggler build because of the anti-gravity speed and normal ground speed boost over rollers, but it's likely that the rollers are better. Wild Wiggler/Standard Bike/Silver Arrow/Flame Rider Donkey Kong has a little bit different stats than Morton-weight and is arguably better, look in the stat calculator: Your build is sub-optimal, but the only thing wrong with it is metal Mario. I'm going to just keep posting this whenever it's relevant.
